Facebook jail: why you can't post in groups and what to do
Post in groups often enough and sooner or later Facebook will tell you you've been temporarily blocked. Usually the block lifts on its own. But if you panic and keep trying, a short block can easily turn into a long one.
What people mean by “jail”
It's just slang. Meta doesn't use the word. People use it for two quite different things:
- A temporary block for activity. This is the most common one. Facebook isn't reacting to one post but to how you've behaved lately: posting a lot, fast, and the same thing. You'll usually see a message that you're posting too fast, that you've been temporarily blocked, or that you've been joining groups too fast.
- A strike for content. A post was removed for breaking the Community Standards. You'll get a notification, and it'll show up in Account Status.
Strikes follow a clear scale, published by Meta's Transparency Center. The first strike is just a warning. From the second to the sixth, you can lose specific features, like posting in groups. At seven strikes you can't create content for a day, at eight for three days, at nine for a week. From ten on, it's 30 days.
Why accounts get blocked
- 01Speed. Posts a few seconds apart are the most common reason.
- 02Repeats. The same text, photo and link in every group. More in identical posts.
- 03Too much for the account. A two-week-old account posting to 60 groups doesn't look like a person. For how much is safe, see posting limits.
- 04Posting right after joining. Join 20 groups and post in all of them the same day, and you've hit a classic pattern. Posting blocks and joining blocks often come together.
- 05The post itself. Banned topics, too-good-to-be-true promises, reports from members.
Sometimes it feels like you got blocked for nothing. Usually something from the list above did happen, you just didn't notice. It can also be that you share an IP with someone who spammed from it, or that you logged in from a new device or a new place. Facebook deliberately doesn't say exactly why, so nobody can work out the limits.
What to do right now
- 01Stop posting from this account. Don't try again, because every attempt can extend the block.
- 02Open Account Status in your Facebook settings. It shows what's restricted and until when.
- 03If the block is temporary, just wait. The first one usually lasts a few hours to a day.
- 04If you got a strike and think it's wrong, request a review. Keep it short, polite and to the point.
- 05Don't get around the block with another account or device, and don't pay “unban services.” They're scams.
My post didn't show up. Is that a block?
Not necessarily. Check these first:
- It's waiting for approval. In some groups an admin checks every post first. Find your pending posts in the group. If too many have piled up, delete the old ones.
- It was quietly declined. Admin Assist can automatically decline posts with links or certain words without telling you. Try the same text without the link. If that doesn't help, drop words like “free,” “WhatsApp” or “DM me.”
- You were removed from the group. If the group shows a Join button again, you're no longer a member.
- The link is blocked. Short links like bit.ly often are. Use your full website address or leave the link out.
If posts quietly fail in several groups at once, the whole account has probably been restricted. In that case, stop posting completely for a few days.
How to come back without getting blocked again
- Post more slowly than you did before the block, and work back up over a week or two.
- Don't post to every group every day. Do one part of the list today and another tomorrow, so each group sees you now and then rather than daily.
- After you join a group, wait a day or two before posting there.
- Make every post different, both the text and the photos.
- Don't abandon the account between campaigns: scroll the feed, like things, watch videos. More in warming up an account.
How Postyfy helps
- Pauses between groups and between account launches. Ready-made presets are in Settings → Behaviour: Slow, Standard, Fast, Random.
- The “from–to” range: post to one part of a list today and another part tomorrow, so your groups rotate on their own.
- A Report with before and after screenshots for every group. You can see right away where a post got stuck, no guessing.
- Content check: AI looks at your text beforehand and tells you whether it's fine, risky or breaks the rules.
- If an account is restricted, set its reliability to “Do not use.” Postyfy won't include it in group posting until it recovers.
Let Postyfy do the repetitive part
Warm-up, spintax, AI rewrites, pauses between groups and one schedule for all your accounts. Set it up once, then just check the report.
